ANGELES CITY — The demand for
environmental friendly buildings led former city councilor and head of
the Green Youth Brigade Louie Reyes, Engr. Joseph Atchicos and Archt.
Rosette Santos to conceptualize and construct the first “green house” in
the country here.
The ground breaking was held last June 29 at the Heritage Place Phase II in Barangay Cutcut here which is located along the Angeles City Circumferential Road.
Santos and Atchicos said the green house will use natural lighting and ventilation powered by solar and wind energy.
They said “rain harvesters” will also be integrated into the structure and “a bamboo design will emerge on the façade of the residential building to depict a Filipino taste.”
“Sick building syndrome” which can be described as allergic reactions due to direct contact with house materials containing toxic elements as well as “wrong notions on green architecture” were cited as among the many ills of constructing a house or building.
Santos explained that “establishments with green walls and white roofs are less taxing to the environment,” adding that the welfare and comfort of the occupants should be prioritized.
Another environmental friendly innovation was introduced by Francis Eugenio, operations and marketing head of Happy Home, who showed a “long term and resource efficient system” that can protect any house from termites.
Meanwhile, Reyes said the green house will be Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) certified.
LEED is an international rating system that measures the performance of a building based on the criteria that is sensitive to its impact on the environment. LEED was created by the United States of America Green Building Council and is a widely used green rating system worldwide.
“The market demand for green buildings in Angeles City is expected to boom as well as real estate and construction industry in the country,” Reyes concluded.

tula ng pag ibig2
Ang Kanyang Mga Mata
Dalawang bituing
kumikislap-kislap
sa gitna
ng dilim. . .
Tambal ng aliw
na sasayaw-sayaw
sa tuwing ako’y
naninimdim. . .
Bukang-liwayway
ng isang pagsintang
walang maliw!
Takipsilim
ng isang pusong
di magtataksil!
ang kanyang mga mata
her eyes
dalawing bituin
two stars
kumikislap-kislap
glittering / shining
sa gitna ng dilim
in the middle of darkness
O, pangarap kita, sinta
Ikaw ang tangi kong musa.
